The Board of Education of Charles County is composed of seven members elected to represent and serve the educational needs and interests of [[Charles County, Maryland|Charles County]]. They provide direction for and establish educational policy governing [[:Category:Charles County Public Schools|Charles County Public Schools]]. Board Members also have final authority over budgets, curriculum, personnel appointments, capital improvements and land acquisition.
Board Members are elected at-large by the county's voting residents. They each serve four-year terms. The student Board Member serves a one-year term with the Board representing student viewpoints and cast an opinion vote on most actions taken by the Board. Board Members appoint the Superintendent of Schools to manage day-to-day operations of the school system. The Superintendent also serves as secretary-treasurer and is a nonvoting Board Member.
