Stone was a well respected lawyer, Maryland state senator, and member of the Continental Congress who voted for and signed the Declaration of Independence. Stone resided in Charles County, Maryland during the 1700's in a plantation called Habre de Venture. Today, the planatation is owned by the National Park Service and is called the Thomas Stone National Historic Site.
